Memphis’ Most Modern Grocery Store Makes Its Debut
The long-awaited South Point Grocery store has finally opened its doors at 136 Webster Avenue in Downtown Memphis. Rick James, CEO and owner of Castle Retail Group, and Tom Archer, owner and president of Archer Custom Builders, have collaborated to deliver the promise of a modern, full-service grocery store to downtown residents.
We know what you’re thinking – Is it really full-service? One hundred percent. At South Point, we carry a wide assortment of fresh produce, dairy, frozen food, ice cream, beer and wine, plus a deli department and meat service counter with an onsite butcher.
A Modern Memphis Grocery Store for All
Our goal is simple – We want to provide downtown residents with all of their grocery needs in one shopping experience. But that’s not all – We’ve added a few unique elements to our neighborhood grocery store that we think you’ll enjoy. Local chef Josh McLane will spearhead the kitchen, featuring 12-15 unique sandwich offerings for customers to “grab and go.” Locally-operated and certified humane Home Place Pastures will be showcased in the meat department. The front porch allows seating for 42, arranged in a work/eat/meet/entertainment style for customers. And finally, the neon signage – designed and created by Chuck Mitchell and Frank Balton Sign Co. – allows South Point to solidify its place in Downtown Memphis.
This $2.5 million transformation of a 100-year-old building began with the hopes and vision of Tom Archer, who purchased the former Liberty Cash Grocers warehouse in 2017.
South Point Grocery is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Be sure to follow and like us on Facebook and Instagram at @southpointgrocery. Get to The Point!
