Live Music at Your Neighborhood Grocery Store
When you think of places to see live music, we are pretty sure your neighborhood grocery store isn’t at the top of the list. Well, that’s another thing that makes South Point Grocery unique to other grocery stores. We are taking advantage of our gorgeous, covered patio by providing live music on Saturday afternoons to our community. We invite you to grab a delicious sandwich from our deli section and a refreshing cold beverage and hang out while enjoying some of the best Memphis musicians, accessible to all and with no age limit.
However, we aren’t the first grocery store to offer live music. Another grocery store in Brooklyn, NYC, introduced live music to their grocery shopping experience last year. Yet, we did have the same reasons for including live music at our store. “We want our shoppers to stay excited every time they come into the store, and there’s no better way to enjoy yourself than live music,” said Goldin, who owns the Clinton Hill supermarket. Plus, many people find grocery shopping a chore. At South Point Grocery, we want to change that by making grocery shopping a more delightful experience, whether due to live music, our fantastic selection at reasonable prices, or the aesthetically pleasing design of the store.
We are taking the Memorial Day weekend off for live music but plan to return next Saturday, June 3rd, with Steve Lockwood & Old Dogs playing between 12 pm to 2 pm. This Memphis trio plays original compositions and many Deltas acoustic blues tunes. If you would like to get a preview of this fantastic band’s sound, you can check out their music at stevelockwoodolddogs.bandcamp.com.
We will also feature local musicians Michael Shults and Ted Ludwig on the front porch on June 24th also from 12 pm to 2 pm. These lovely guys play a bit of everything and are known to get the crowd to join in and sing along.
We recently featured the widely popular Jeff Hulett, and we look forward to his return. The exorbitantly talented Snowglobe band’s founding member has mastered multiple styles of music but excels at folk-inspired southern rock. So, it’s a real treat to hear him play on our patio.
We’ve also had the ever-popular Todd Nations on our patio and look forward to him gracing our venue again as well. Keep an eye on our website’s event tab to see the most up-to-date music lineup for the summer.
We hope you enjoy visiting our store as much as we enjoy having you! If you haven’t stopped by, visit us at 136 Webster Avenue in Downtown Memphis. We have ample parking space, and our patio accommodates large groups, so bring a friend and check out this modern grocery experience as soon as you can.
Also, don’t forget to stop by and grab your picnic items for the Sunset Symphony happening this year at the Overton Park Shell on May 28th.
